20-Year-Old Homicide Suspect Turns Himself In To York Police

A 20-year-old man who was wanted as the primary suspect in a homicide in York, has turned himself in, authorities announced on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Olajuwon Brabham, was shot in the 400 block of Salem Avenue in York City and police arrived to find him at 10:22 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023, according to an earlier release by the city police department. 

Kamron Luis Michael Dowsey was identified as the shooter who killed Brabham, was wanted on a warrant for Criminal Homicide, City Police said in an updated release. 

Dowsey turned himself in with his attorney present at the YCPD headquarters on at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Brabham was inside of the home when the shooting happened, and a bystander pulled him into the yard, according to the coroner's report. 

He was soon taken to the WellSpan York Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:07 p.m., due to injuries he sustained from the multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of his death has been ruled a homicide, the coroner explained. 

His death was certified by Deputy Coroner Michele Kirchner. 

Dowsey was out on bail for terroristic threat charges made in 2022 at the time of this deadly shooting, according to his previous court docket. 

He has been denied bail and his preliminary hearing has Magisterial District Judge Joel N. Toluba on May, 18, 9 a.m., according to his latest court docket.

Brabham was a York native who most recently lived on West King Street, according to the coroner. 

His grandma believes he's now in heaven and has shared the news of his passing on Facebook, writing the following:

"I believe in a God of love, forgiveness and resurrection and because I believe in that God I know that my grandson Olajwon Emmanuel Brabhan has been welcomed into his arms. Our hearts are broken, but our faith in God will not be shaken."

He was known for his kind eyes and good heart, according to his family who survived him.
